Pricing and how we charge

Do I have to pay a fee to access Klickly?

For the time being, if you qualify for Klickly access, we do not charge a subscription or set-up fee to use the Klickly platform. We will be moving to a monthly pricing model in the future, and each pricing tier will give you access to more detailed data and extended support from your Klickly Account Manager.

What is the commission?

The campaign commission is the amount that you pay to Klickly for any order that we help enable. The higher the commission, the more likely our algorithm is to prioritize displaying your products to consumers.

Klickly is unique in that you have significant control over the commission you set – you can set any commission you’d like, to be paid out when a sale is driven. You can also set different types of commissions, depending on what’s most important to your brand’s growth strategy  – as an example, you can input a higher payout when Klickly acquires a totally new customer vs. when we entice a returning customer to re-purchase after months of being dormant.

You can also vary commissions per campaign (e.g. you could advertise your swimwear line at one commission while promoting your best-sellers at another).

We recommend setting a commission that you feel reflects the impact that Klickly will have on driving sales of each particular order-type. To find out more, visit “Setting your commission”.

Why do you use a commission-based model instead of a pre-funding model?

We feel that the pre-funding model in the digital advertising space should be a thing of the past! Previously, agencies and even in-house ad buyers were incentivized to get low "eCPMs" (making it seem like they were getting a really good deal on impressions). Unfortunately, this meant they bought low-quality "remnant" inventory because it was cheaper. The problem? Real people don't see it!

Another problem arose from companies who were incentivized to get you clicks. This model led to a growing percentage of "bot clicks" in the open web –– some experts say 25% - 40% of clicks are not real humans. Bot clicks are problematic because they skew your data and instill a false sense of success, but don’t actually lead to real sales (spoiler: bots may click on your products, but they don’t have credit cards).

We believe advertising should help drive actual sales. Thus, we charge you on a radically different model –– we charge on a commission-basis (set by you) when we help drive real humans to buy your products. This means we do not make money when we show your ads in low-quality placements or when we get bot clicks. Because we only charge when we help drive actual sales, our traffic is premium: verified humans, interested in buying products, in mid- to top-tier placements.

What are the different types of commissions?

You have the ability to set four different types of commission:

  • Campaign Commission: This commission applies to all products in a single campaign. It is set as a percentage-of-sale (of your choosing). You can set multiple campaigns at varying campaign commissions.
  • New Customer Commission: This commission applies when a new customer makes a purchase that is enabled by Klickly. In line with the standards set by Google, a new customer is defined as someone who has not purchased in the last 540 days, based on the email address provided in the order. New Customer Commission is set as a dollar amount of your choosing – think of it as a blended CPA. If Klickly drives an order from a first-time purchaser, the New Customer Commission will only be taken if it exceeds the other commissions set (i.e. a New Customer Commission will never be charged with another commission).
  • Cold Customer Commission: This commission applies when a cold customer makes a purchase that is enabled by Klickly (a cold customer is new customer whose first visit to your store was no more than 24 hours prior to the order being placed, according to our pixel technology). As this commission is for a cold consumer, it is typically your highest CPA and for many brands is greater than 100% of the order value. It applies only if it exceeds other commission types ((i.e. like a New Customer Commission, a Cold Customer Commission will never be charged with another type of commission).
  • Rest-of-Site Commission: This commission applies to your entire online store, and is charged only when Klickly directs a customer to your store and they purchase a product not listed in an active campaign. (Hint: setting a Rest-of-Site Commission can help you rank higher in the Klickly algorithm.)

What is the typical campaign commission range?

We encourage brands to evaluate Klickly’s average impact on their customer journey and set their commission accordingly. As a guide, many brands have had success setting commissions at the following levels:

  • Campaign Commission: 10% - 20% initially
  • New Customer Commission: Think of this as your overall, store-wide blended CPA (while this is brand-dependent, we suggest using your overall blended CPA for your New Customer Commission as it takes into account the impact that prior touch-points may have had on a consumer’s purchase decision)
  • Cold Customer Commission: Think of this as your highest new-customer CPA (typically 75% - 125% or ~1x ROAS –– think of “cold customer sales” as sales to completely unknown, new customers delivered on a silver platter, and hence, the higher commission)
  • Rest-of-Site Commission: 5% - 10% initially

How does commission affect my campaign?

Your commission is how you incentivize Klickly to advertise your products. Since it costs us money to show your products, a higher commission means Klickly's algorithm is more likely to show your brand’s products over others. You can see how your campaign is ranked by reviewing your Priority Score™ in your Campaign Settings

  1. Log in to your Klickly dashboard
  2. Click on your brand name (top right-hand corner)
  3. Click on ‘Account settings’ in the drop-down menu
  4. Click on 'Invoices' (left-hand side)

When and on what sales does Klickly take commission?

Since Klicky's job is to drive sales, a commission is eligible on any sale that Klickly helps enable, whether the sale occurs on your site or within Klickly’s streamlined checkouts.

For sales that occur on your site, Klickly charges the highest eligible commission that applies, based on the commission levels you set, but only where that sale occurred within the applicable attribution window. This attribution window governs the maximum number of days that can elapse between a consumer viewing or clicking on a Klickly ad and placing an order.

For sales that occur in Klickly’s streamlined checkouts, Klickly charges the highest eligible commission that applies, based on the commission levels you set. (This is often a New- customer commission or Cold- customer commission.)

Like all platforms, Klickly is a touchpoint in your customers' purchase journey. Our unique difference is we let you decide what commission you want to pay, and so we recommend you set your commission to reflect the impact you believe Klickly has on your sales.

Do commissions differ for subscription orders?

Many affiliates take ongoing commissions from the subscriptions they drive. This could mean you’re paying a rev-share for the duration of a subscription’s lifetime. Klickly does not do this.

For subscription orders enabled by Klickly we only take 2 months of commissions – the 1st is the applicable acquisition fee; the 2nd is the applicable campaign commission.

As an example: If Klickly drives a subscription from a Cold Customer (someone who has never purchased/been to site) the payout might look like this:
1st order: $[cold customer commission]
2nd order: %[campaign commission]
3rd order: no payout

If Klickly drives a subscription from an existing customer (for example, someone who previously purchased a one-off product but has now gone on to buy a subscription), the payout might look like this:
1st order: %[campaign commission]
2nd order: %[campaign commission]
3rd order: no payout

Note that commission is only charged on the purchase amount, not shipping.

Can multiple commissions be charged for a sale?

No; Only one commission will be applied to any given product, and where both commissions could be applied, only the higher commission will be used.

For more detail, Campaign Commission and Rest-of-site commission are product-level commissions – they apply to individual products within an order. Only one of these commissions will be applied to a given product; however, multiple commissions could be applied within a multi-product order. New-customer commission and Cold-customer commission are order-level commissions – they apply to entire orders. Only one of these commissions will be applied to a given order (and then only where they exceed the sum of Campaign Commissions and Rest-of-site commission for that order).

What are boosts?

Boosts are a way to increase your Priority Score™ and ultimately the number of times your products are shown to customers. We recommend using boosts when you would like to scale with Klickly without increasing your commission. Boosts  can also be helpful in getting a leg-up on the competition while maintaining the same commission.

How much do boosts cost?

There are three different levels of boosts:

Basic boost:  $10 per week
Better boost:  $24 per week
Best boost:  $99 per week

Each boost incrementally impacts how often your ads are shown to consumers. To see how to set up a boost click here.

How many impressions are guaranteed per boost?

  • $10 boost yields approximately 5k views per week
  • $24 boost yields approximately 15k views per week
  • $99 boost yields approximately 75k views per week

Are there any additional fees?

While we don’t currently have set-up or access fees, there are several fees that can impact a brand:

  • Commission: The commission is the amount that you pay to Klickly for any order that we help enable. The higher the commission, the more likely our algorithm is to prioritize displaying your products to consumers. For more information about commissions, see here.
  • Boosts:  boosts are a way to increase your Priority Score™, and ultimately the number of times your products are shown to customers. For more information about boosts, see here.
  • Credit card processing fee: A credit card processing fee is applied to all customer transactions processed by Klickly. This is similar to the payment processing fee you are charged for sales that occur on your site. You can find the credit card processing fee applicable to your account in your Account settings.
  • Refund and chargeback fees: Similar to refund and chargeback fees that may be imposed by your financial institution, these fees are charged in the event of a refund or chargeback following the sale of a product.
  • Ad hoc fees: Additional fees may be charged from time to time for premium or other services.

How does Klickly claim attribution?

If a customer views a Klickly ad, they enter an attribution window (typically 1-7 days) where the future purchase of this product during this time will count as a Klickly-enabled sale.

If a customer engages with a Klickly ad –– whether they explore the Commerce Module™, click through to the site, or merely exit ––  they enter an attribution window (typically 28*days) where the future purchase of this product during this time will count as a Klickly-enabled sale.

*Select larger brands on higher tiers may be eligible for a custom attribution window. For more information about custom attribution window, see here

Can I change my attribution windows?

Custom attribution windows are available for select larger partners and those on paid tiers. Please contact your account manager for more details.

Can my attribution change while I'm on the platform?

Your attribution window can auto-adjust based on your GMV while on the platform.

Does Klickly do retargeting?

Klickly uses a rich data-set and intelligent algorithms to achieve what is essentially a smart blend of both dynamic retargeting and prospecting.

Given we look at all the signals our data sends us, we will certainly try to recapture a consumer who has abandoned your site, because we believe they should purchase! But we will also promote your products to similar-looking consumers who've never been to your site and may not even know your brand.

Promoting with this blended approach gives us a better understanding of consumers that are excited about your site and products. It also allows our algorithm to make the best product choices and increase our cold prospecting efforts, based on data profiles Klickly has already collected.

You have the ability to influence the extent to which we retarget or prospect for your brand by adjusting your commission for each type of sale. It is also important to keep in mind that our algorithms will naturally shift more towards cold prospecting efforts over time, as we intelligently spend our budgets on customers we know will convert. For more information on how to adjust your commissions, see here.

How do I avoid double-attribution with my other marketing channels?

If Klickly displays an ad that helps drive a consumer to purchase your product during the attribution window (after viewing or interacting with the ad), Klickly will claim attribution since we helped to facilitate the sale.

Klickly can work both as a stand-alone platform or as an addition to other marketing platforms. When working with other platforms, Klickly might be one of several touch-points on the customer journey. We recommend choosing a commission that best represents the average impact you believe Klickly has on your sales.  This is one reason we’ve made your commission completely adjustable.

Will Klickly get me new customers?

Klickly focuses on every aspect of the sales funnel. We use a rich data-set and intelligent algorithms to achieve what is essentially a blend of both dynamic retargeting and prospecting. We can help drive first-time purchasers while, at the same time, increasing LTV through re-marketing efforts.  To achieve a specific marketing goal, simply focus Klickly towards your advertising needs, using the 4 different types of commissions offered in your dashboard.

Additionally, we recently launched our new Klickly Discovery™ feature designed to find and target new, cold customers in a variety of unique ways. Here, we leverage our owned & operated properties and proprietary audience of 40M consumers to enhance our new customers discovery.

What is Klickly’s retargeting vs. prospecting split?

Klickly attempts to address customer advertising in a holistic way, based on the data available from your audience and millions of consumers in Klickly’s ecosystem. For example, a small brand audience can constrain our ability to identify new, look-alike consumers that match the profile of potential customers. For this reason, the “retargeting vs. prospecting split” is constantly in flux and brand-dependent. Factors that also play a role here are the commissions you set, your boosts, your brand size, the data available, and your audience’s behavior.

Can a consumer choose to purchase on my site instead of in a Klickly ad?

Yes; most people feel comfortable interacting with your products within our ads (we do allow for size, color, and image selection plus an entire purchase within the ad), but some people would rather buy products on your site vs. purchasing through our ads. Since it’s our job to get you sales, we allow consumers to purchase wherever they feel most comfortable.

When people click from an ad to my site, do they go straight to that product page or home page?

A prospective customer who clicks through to your site could be taken to one of a few destinations. If they have shown particular interest in a specific product, we will most often take them to that product’s landing page. However, if the consumer has shown more general interest (such as clicking on a logo), we’ll typically send them to your site’s home page. We are constantly A/B testing which destinations produce the best performance.
